It’s an aggressive, bold new look that contrasts brushed alloy radiator shrouds with a blacked-out engine and an underslung, upswept exhaust. The all-new steel tubular frame and stout-looking, 41mm upside down front forks, provide agile handling as well as character. On the lighter side, headlight, taillight and indicators are all LED; this bike is made to be seen and stand out everywhere.
It’s an ideal machine for young riders to step up to, or for those looking to increase their experience and confidence on two wheels. The tough looks are not a shallow impression; the emphasis – like the CB1000R – is on metal. It's a hard little character that can take on the city backstreets, as well as stretch its legs out on the open roads. What more do you need?
The minimalistic instrument panel is integrated into the top fork yoke and ignition switch, it’s positioned perfectly for the rider to take a quick glance down at the information – night or day.
The tough-looking 41mm USD forks combined with a 5-stage preload, rear shock – mounted on a pressed-steel, pro-link swingarm – are the basis of the CB300R’s agile handling.
Front brake is a radial-mounted, 4-piston caliper, wave-style disc brake. The rear is a 2-piston caliper, 220mm wave disc and both are regulated during use by 2-channel ABS. This high-specification system works through an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) providing finely-balanced, front-to-rear operation and incredible feel, in all riding conditions.
A brushed aluminium radiator shroud contrasts the overall blacked-out engine; adding to the hard-edged look of this new class of street machine.
All lighting, including indicators, on the CB300R is LED. At first sight, there’s the thin round headlight with its metal-tone rim. It’s a signature feature with a distinctive, ringed running light as well as an attention grabbing, two-bar light feature.
A compact, free-revving 286cc unit puts out 23.1kW peak power @8,500 rpm, and with 27.9 Nm of torque @7,500rpm, it’ll really get your pulse rising straight from the off. You better hang on too, because when you get that inviting, clear stretch of road in front of you, accelerating though the 6-speed gearbox will propel you 200 metres in 9.2 seconds.
Although design cues are taken from the CB1000R, the frame of CB300R has it own unique construction of pressed and tubular steel. It’s a hard look that also contributes to smooth handling; you can lean confidently into a fast sweeping bend, or turn the CB300R sharply around a tight street corner.
